Driveline Oscillation Damping for Hybrid Electric Vehicles Using Extended-State-Observer-Based Compensator

Driveline oscillation is a significant concern in the context of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), because it can adversely affect vehicles’ sustainability. The reason for this that not only diminishes longevity components due to high mechanical contact stress but also results poor driving comfort, which turn reduces customer satisfaction. To address issue driveline effectively, two critical challenges, namely time-varying torque load and backlash, need be tackled. end, study constructs control-oriented model second-order system plus dead zone backlash. An extended state observer designed order estimate unmeasurable torque. As such, an extended-state-observer-based compensator proposed suppress oscillations HEVs. evaluate control observation performance compensator, simulation engine-in-loop experiments are conducted. Results obtained time frequency domains reveal scheme substantially oscillation.
